Petroleum Engineering is a rare branch at the B.Tech. level that is only available at The Indian School of Mines (ISM) at Dhanbad and the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies at Dehradun.The four year B.Tech course offered by the ISM, Dhanbad requires the minimum eligibility of a pass in the Plus Two examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There are no mark restrictions.

Admission is based on the IIT-JEE rank.

B.Tech. in Applied Petroleum Engineering is available at the College of Engineering Studies under University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun.

This programme is designed to develop a new generation of petroleum engineers who find a place in the entire value chain of this industry-exploration, refining and downstream activities.

Selection is based on the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) score followed by counseling and an aptitude test.
