Balachandran
Chullikad had again hit the stand, this time with his new collection
of poems 'Manasantharam', with a light in the field of poetry. Chullikad
was always in the news, in one-way or the other. His recent comments
on Marad issue and political polarization based on religion had
sparked a controversy, had irritated the governing class and religious
heads.
Now 'Manasantharam' as introduced by K.S. Radhakrishnan is 'the
passive rebellion of one who saw the Light'. In the preface the
poet tells us that his heart, which is otherwise anything from a
brothel to a lunatic asylum, which makes us to approach the poet
without any preconceived ideas. Chullikad successfully keeps alive
the tradition of metrical and rhymed verse along with free verse.
The tradition of metaphysical thought too is kept alive. The book
serves an invitation and a challenge to attune oneself to such apparent
diversity.
